"Tai chi-Paracas"
a series of 90 paintings
acrylic, watercolor on paper
This series was inspired by the "Mantle of Paracas", a 2000 year old Peruvian tapestry held in the Brooklyn Museum of Art. Each painting responds to one of the 90 icons that surround
the perimeter of the textile. Silhouettes expressing my modern interests in tai chi, drumming and other activities are overlaid on top of pre-columbian priests, shamans, warriors and
mythical characters shown in the original tapestry.
